France, circa 1780
A fine pair of mid-eighteenth century painted beech wood fauteuils with shaped rails throughout, carved with foliate rocaille elements, the backs with acanthus leaves centred upon two c-scrolls also mirrored on the front seat rails. The chairs covered in Regence needlework of carnations and other decorative flowers.
