About the Item
A beautiful 19th century giltwood suite of neat proportions and fabulous quality, comprising of a two seater sofa and two matching armchairs, upholstered in silk with delicate trailing foliate and flowerhead pattern detail in delicate hues of pink, green and red against cream ground. The exquisitely hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frames with ribbon twist, tied ribbon bow and acanthus leaf motif detail both in the cresting and throughout the elegant giltwood frames. Their shaped and upholstered paneled backs of oval form in the two seater settee and of circular form in the pair of chairs raised above outsplayed, padded and curved arm supports with finely hand carved acanthus leaf and scroll detail. Raised over simple frieze with centred tied ribbon bow detail flanked with applied flowerhead paterae, supported on graceful, fluted tapering leg terminating on stylised arrow foot.
