Postmodern designer sofa model 'Tube' designed by Anna & Carlo Bartoli for Italian high-end furniture manufacturer Rossi di Albizzate. This iconic sofa has a metal frame padded with polyurethane foam and two tubular aluminum supports. It has a beautiful, sculptural profile and retains its original black fabric. Stamped ‘Rossi di Albizzate Tube Design. C e A Bartoli’ on metal feet. Sourced in Italy, the 1990s. The Tube sofa was awarded the IF Award for Good Industrial Design in 1996. It was pictured in the 'Design Italiano per un nuovo paesaggio domestic post stamp series issued by Poste Italiane in 2001. Carlo Bartoli (1931-2020) was an Italian architect and designer with works included in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in NY and the Design Museum of the Milan Triennale. He was awarded the ADI Compasso d'Oro for Lifetime Achievement.
The sofa remains in excellent vintage condition, and the structure is without defects; the polyurethane padding is in good condition, and the black fabric shows some minor traces of use and discoloration on the backrest.

Carlo Bartoli
Carlo Bartoli, born in Milan in 1931, is an Italian architect and designer. He created many successful works, such as the Gaia armchair, included in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Design Museum of the Milan Triennale. Bartoli was awarded the ADI Compasso d'Oro for Lifetime Achievement.

“Down” sofa set by Carlo Bartoli for Rossi di Albizzate, 1970s Italy. Part of the Down series this set consist a 2-piece modular sofa, 4 cabinets and a coffee table. Satin black lacquered wood and upholstered in the original black leather with amazing patina. As the coffee table is as wide as the frame of the sofa it can also be placed on the corner to make an L-shaped configuration. Bold 70s Italian design thats striking to look at and has a comfortable seat. The 2 corner seats are more used so a little less high.
