About the Item

Sofa in carved and gilded wood with a curved back and double matting designed by Richard Guino (1890–1973). Central medallion representing Venus and Cupid signed "GUINO". Richard Guino, disciple of Aristide Maillol (1861-1944), made a colaboration with Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) in the making of his sculpture sketches. Provenance: Ex "Rafael Oliveira Cesar" Collection, Museo Nacional de Arte Decortaivo ("Art Deco y su tiempo" N°100 in the catalogue). France, circa 1920.
