About the Item

Handsome black Samsonite Mid-Century Modern adjustable bar or counter stools. They have multiple adjustment positions. These awesome stools are NOS, new old stock. They are priced for the set of three. In new condition with their original boxes. Please see photos, circa 1975. Holy cow! We found these fantastic stools in their original boxes still in the garage of this estate. The tag on the bottom says August 1975! Made by the Samsonite Furniture Company. One set in black Naugahyde. Just look at the photos. They are armless with a scooped shaped seat covered in Naugahyde. They swivel, they adjust, they have a foot ring and it adjusts too. What more could you need or want? Well maybe you would like the original boxes and ALL the original hang tags and assembly instructions. Samsonite, best known for their luggage, was founded in Denver in 1910 by Jesse Shwayder. Jesse was born and raised in the late 19th century American West but found himself in his 20’s in New York selling luggage for the Seward Trunk and Bag Company. However, he had a dream. A dream of going home along with a dream of owning his own company. He did just that. That company was first named Shwayder Trunk Manufacturing Company. However, its name was changed in 1965 to Samsonite honoring its best-selling product. Jesse Shwayder named the line as such for its incredible strength which he likened to the Biblical character, Samson. The first 60-70 plus years Samsonite was operated by the Shwayder family and went through many expansions and changes. One of those expansions was into the furniture market. But by the 1970s they were bought out by the Beatrice umbrella. Again, going though many expansions and changes and……cutbacks too and changing hands many times. After all those years, the luggage portion of Samsonite is back in Denver operating from their original location. And, the furniture portion is operating as it did from its beginning in Murfreesboro, Tennesse. Samsonite Corporation and Samsonite Furniture are now separate companies. Beautiful swivel bar stool by A. Brandt comprised of solid ranch oak and a dark brown almost black vinyl or faux leather seat cushion. Wonderful vintage condition. The joints have been tightened and the swivel lubricated, and a light coat of restore-a-finish has been applied. Please see photos. Circa mid-20th century. Such an awesome bar stool by A. Brandt!! This stool is comprised of rustic solid ranch oak with an Acorn Brown finish that is signature to A. Brandt Company furniture. Acorn Brown was made by applying an oil stain before sealing the wood. After lacquering, Acorn Brown wax was applied. And this stool wears it well!! It’s just what you need at the end of your rustic, western, or industrial style bar, but it would also be perfect at a tall game or bar style table.
