19th Century English Pine Blanket Chest

About the Item

This English pine blanket chest is crafted to resemble a chest of drawers, offering both style and practicality. The piece features charming carved details on the exterior, a beveled edge top and baseboard, with distinctive white porcelain knobs that add a touch of refinement. Inside, the original candle box is still present, a nod to its rich history. This large, strong chest provides wonderful storage, making it a perfect addition to any home. Its timeless design and sturdy construction make it versatile and valuable, blending seamlessly with traditional and modern interiors. Found in England, dating to the mid-19th century. The chest is of solid pine construction. The original white porcelain knobs show areas of wear with minor scratches The interior of the chest is still fitted with the original candle box (very rare to find!). Original skeleton key and lock are present, along with brass escutcheons. Sturdy iron handles are attached on each side to aid in moving the chest. The chest has been scrubbed of its original stain and varnish, and a top coat has been applied for durability. Scratches, wood separation, and wear, consistent with age and use. Approximately 58.125” L x 26.25” W x 31.375” H.
