About the Item
An exceptional and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Mahogany, ormolu and Arabescato marble buffet attributed to François Linke. The two door four drawer buffet is raised by elegant circular tapered fluted legs with fine fitted mottled ormolu sabots and top caps. At the center are two doors each displaying recessed panels showcasing the beautiful Mahogany grain framed within a delicate mottled border and displaying lovely tied ribbon and berried laurel ormolu keyhole escutcheons. The doors open to reveal one adjustable shelf and all original handsome hardware. Flanking the doors are striking fluted columns with fine ormolu reserves and two open rounded shelves at each side retaining their original fitted Arabescato marble tops with a fine mottled ormolu border and an elegant pierced ormolu gallery with their original mirrored backplates. The drawers each display striking intricately detailed pierced ormolu mounts with beautiful richly chased floral designs framed within a beaded and mottled band. Above is the original Arabescato marble top with a fine mottled border.
François Linke (1855-1946) Renowned 19th Century Parisian Ébéniste. Linke created historical interpretations of Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. He displayed at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900 where he received a gold medal.
