Mid-Century French Louis XVI Style Buffet by Maurice Hirsch for Maison Jansen
About the Item
Created for Maison Jansen and signed by designer Maurice Hirsch, this mid twentieth century Louis XVI style mahogany buffet features fluted rounded corners and a beveled white marble top. The paneled fronts and sides are detailed with bronze banding, and the tops of the fluted corners are finished with bronze elements "en asperge" or like asparagus, in English. Its two drawers of dovetail construction are fitted with bronze drop ring drawer pulls in the form of laurels. The two doors below revealing two separate cavities, each with an adjustable shelf. The buffet rests on finial feet finished with bronze rings and sabots. Signed on the back, Hirsch, circa 1960. Includes two keys.
