About the Item

"17th-century Flemish cabinet with mythological paintings and silver decoration" Period: 17th century Materials: Wood, oil on panel, solid silver, mirrors Overall dimensions: 160 x 62 x 36 cm Cabinet dimensions (without stand): 55 x 49 x 28 cm An exceptional 17th-century Flemish cabinet, a high-quality piece of furniture that combines the mastery of Flemish cabinetmaking with the pictorial refinement of the Northern Baroque. The frame is decorated with a series of original oil paintings on wooden panels, in excellent condition. The scenes depict mythological motifs centered on the figure of Cupid, executed with great delicacy and chromatic richness. The decorative handles and side plates, made of solid silver, stand out, reinforcing the luxurious and exclusive character of the piece. The cabinet retains its original key, which opens both the central doors and the lower drawer. The top cover has no lock. Inside, a small door is hidden, revealing an architectural scene: a perspective room with a geometric floor, columns, and mirrored walls, evoking the visual effects and taste for scenography of the period. A very rare piece, coveted by collectors of antique furniture, Flemish art, and objects with original paintings on furniture.
