French 19th Century Cabinet Signed Deny, Paris
About the Item
A high quality and most elegant French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Ormolu and Marble cabinet, signed Deny, Paris. This stunning three door and one drawer Mahogany cabinet is raised by toupie shaped feet ending with wrap around Ormolu sabots. Above the mottled and Ormolu accented frieze is a large scale single door which opens to reveal a single shelf and natural wood interior. The door showcases a large scale keyhole escutcheon and Ormolu frame below an intricately detailed drawer with a scrolled foliate Ormolu mounted plaque with handles. The upper section of the cabinet displays two doors with the same escutcheons and rectangular Ormolu frames accented with rosettes. The doors open to showcase a unique triple divided interior, with removable inner panels that segment the three shelves. Above the doors is a coved Mahogany plinth displaying an Ormolu central female mask flanked by foliate mounts to each side and below a beaded band. The cabinet is finished with a stunning solid Breche D’Alep marble top display surface. All original gilt, hardware and Mahogany finish throughout.
