IKEA ‘MTP’ Cabinet in Natural Oak, Designed by Marian Grabinski in 1963

About the Item

Beautiful IKEA cabinet that was initially designed as a wedding gift for Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA. The cabinet is made of natural oak veneer with all edges in full oak, which limits the damage. The cabinet has acquired a beautiful warm color, and has a strong architecture with beautiful straight lines. Kamprad liked the cabinet so much, that in 1963 it was available in all IKEA stores as the MTP series. And for a reason, it’s a beautiful example of Scandinavian design. The cabinet is in excellent condition, apart from a minimal wear and tear. Please note that it wasn't until 1963 that IKEA's first branch outside Sweden opened. It was Norway that got the honor. The first branch in Denmark only came in 1969! What I am saying is that IKEA furniture from the early 1960s is rare.
