About the Item

A truly exceptional rare and refined cabinet from the late Art Deco period by one of the most renowned French furniture designers of this period, Jules Leleu. The two gently bowed doors are richly adorned with a spray of wild flowers executed in ebony and mother of pearl: this design pattern is the most iconic of Leleu’s ouvre.The doors and sides are also richly adorned with lozenge shaped marquetry and the elegantly shaped octagonal legs rest on brass sabots. The cabinet has two interior shelves. This piece will create a marvelous focal point to your room or hallway. Materials : Palisander,Ebony,Mother of Pearl,Gilt Bronze. Its original lock and key are in perfect working order. Embossed number at top back: 17738 Signed: J Leleu on the inside of the right hand door. There are very similar examples of this design in the book “ The House of Leleu” by Francoise Siriex published in 2008.
