About the Item

Exquisite and grand French Bookcase. This Louis XVI carved and painted two door bookcase features a chapeau de gendarme top, a shape made to reflect the military hats of the 19th century French regime. The bookcase features beautiful design elements; round decorative Intaglios across the top front, ionic capital on fluted pilaster motif at center, and a grill in each door front. The faux marbre finish on bottom & deep red interior adds to the bookcase’s delightfully stately details.
