Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno Wall Unit in Walnut

About the Item

Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, wall unit 'E22', walnut, glass, polished steel, Italy, 1957 This wall-mounted shelving unit is designed by Osvaldo Borsani and is four sections large, with a width of 2.8 metres. The order and lay out of the shelves are adjustable, which is in line with Osvaldo Borsani's philosophy that the home needs to be orderly, comfortable and easily rearrangeable. The shelves and cabinets are mounted on steel profiles. The wall unit contains several elements, of which two large cabinets with glass doors, many shelves and on the bottom it features a row of drawers. The modernist combination of walnut and steel is still very tasteful today and can be called a timeless classic for sure. Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) is known for his modernist designs at Tecno Milano. Before he began Tecno with his twin brother, Osvaldo designed furniture at his fathers cabinetry Atelier Varedo or Arredamento Borsani. Tecno was founded in 1953 by Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani. The core thought on which the company was found on the idea that Dwellings function as the fundament on which the quality of life is built.
