About the Item

Regarding these aesthetic masterworks, architect and artist Thierry W. Despont wrote: "Like a taxidermist in the back room of a natural history museum, I reconstruct and assemble these strange creatures in my studio. Little by little, masks, small insects, and large specimen appear - phantoms and strange beings from a poetic universe. I put them under glass domes, in boxes, cabinets, or large metal frames, filling them by imaginary construct and categories, confronting them with the planets from which they came." This cabinet has as its back section a painting of a planet, fronted by an assembly of his sculptures, creatures that he has said populate the worlds of his paintings.
