French 19th Century Charles X St. Oak and Marble Commode de Maitrise

About the Item

A most charming French early 19th century Charles X st. oak and Gris St. Anne marble petite Commode de Maitrise. This lovely small scaled storage commode was typically used on a desk or in an area to conceal mail or letters. The petite commode is raised by fine square mottled supports below a straight frieze. Each of the three drawers displays fine ormolu pulls and richly chased keyhole escutcheon mounts. Above is the original Gris St. Anne marble top.
