About the Item

A French Empire period wooden commode, with marble top and revival accents, from the early 19th century. This antique commode from France features a rectangular-shaped black marble top, above a case which houses three drawers and is designed with clean lines and column-style side posts embellished with female busts at top. The three graduated full-sized drawers, each adorn with its original hardware; a pair of lion's head ring pulls flanking a shield-shaped escutcheon within their center. The chest is raised upon a pair of carved paw feet at front, with uniquely stacked circular legs at backside, all in a black finish. This early 19th century French Empire chest-of-drawers will make a wonderful statement piece, perfect for your storage and display needs whether it be in a bedroom or perhaps an entry foyer.
