A very fine quality Louis XVI Style ormolu-mounted commode or chest of drawers with an Italian white marble top that is truly breathtaking! Intricate inlaid marquetry design throughout, the front and sides of the piece as well. Remarkable attention to detail in the brass mounts and other hardware! This beautiful Louis XVI style ormolu-mounted commode inlaid with marquetry and parquetry of rosewood, satinwood, possibly amaranth and painted wood inlays, some similarities to the model by Jean-Henri Riesener from Circa 1880. The breakfront white marble top above a conforming moulded cornice and a pair of large deep drawers inlaid with a central foliate, flanked by lattice and patera-decorated panels, the sides with similar panels, the angles with acanthus-cast volutes, on scrolled acanthus feet. The white marble top with striations and veins coming through. Generously sized, the two spacious drawers are perfect for storing your belongings. Would enhance any bedroom, living room, foyer, entryway or office and will have your guests conversing amongst one another about the pure detail and craftsmanship used in order to make it. Embodied with a sense of luxury and glamour, this Louis XVI Style commode or chest of drawers can be paired with a variety of other styles you may already have in your home or place of choosing! Established in Cantù, Italy shortly after the Second World War, the company Fratelli Cattaneo is now widespread Italian company abroad and mainly known for the uniqueness of the products that it can offer. The origins of the development of a successful company is the work and commitment of three generations of the Cattaneo’s family, first of all Luigi Cattaneo, who founded the company that bore his name in 1947. In the 50's the company moved to a more central area of Cantù, the seat of an old family weaving and the first employees were hired. In the same years the company is associated with the “Consorzio Esposizione Mobili” of Cantù, so-called “Cem”, an association of 200 craftsmen set up in 1949 and, thanks to this consortium for Luigi Cattaneo presents the first major opportunity to work for foreign clients. At the same time the space begins to be limited and in 1952 the company was again transferred, this time in an even bigger space, and the simultaneous entry into the company of the sons was hired a new employee; born Cattaneo Fratelli or Fratelli Cattaneo.
