About the Item
A fine two part Japanese tansu chest in cypress and kiriwood, the upper part with oxblood stained top, two fitted large drawers, and a single fitted small drawer, over a single fitted door, over a lower section with two long drawers, all adorned with decorative hardware and metal bound corners for campaign style stacking. The side handles lock the two pieces together once in place. The tansu probably dates to the early 20th century and is in very good overall condition, with some edge losses, surface scratches, and wear commensurate with age and use.
