About the Item
A fine pair of French Louis XV style commodes, each with two drawers, richly inlaid with floral marquetry. The bombe-shaped cases feature veneered surfaces in contrasting woods, highlighted with delicate floral sprays on the drawer fronts. The commodes are mounted with finely cast gilt-bronze ormolu mounts, including foliate corner mounts, escutcheons, and rococo-style drawer pulls.
The tops are fitted with richly veined shaped marble in warm tones of beige, gold, and cream, adding elegance and durability. The serpentine aprons and cabriole legs continue the Louis XV influence, combining graceful curves with ornate detail. Dovetailed drawer construction attests to their quality craftsmanship.
