Pair Of Italian 18th Century Neo-Classical St. Rosewood, Ormolu & Brass Commodes

About the Item

An elegant and very detailed pair of Italian 18th century Neo-Classical st. Rosewood, Ormolu and Brass commodes from Tuscany. Each three drawer commode is raised by handsome block supports with a mottled wrap around brass trim. Above are handsome architectural ebonized Fruitwood columns with burnished Ormolu plinths and capitals flanking two large drawers. The two central drawers showcase the stunning wood grain which extends across each 'Sans Traverse' (without a crossbar) drawer. The finely detailed circular Ormolu rosette handles are positioned on either side of the keyhole escutcheons of each drawer. The intricately designed keyhole escutcheons are decorated with flanking berried cornucopias of assorted fruit that are tied off by flowing ribbons at the bottom. The smaller top drawers are decorated with delightful Rosewood butterfly veneers and slightly smaller circular rosette handles. Above the top drawer is a Brass mottled trim below the impressive Rosewood butterfly veneered top.
