About the Item

Elegant pair of bedside tables from the Vicenza area, made in the very early 19th century, during the Directory period. The sober, linear design, devoid of projecting cornices, gives these pieces of furniture a rigorous, geometric appearance, perfectly in keeping with the early 19th-century Veneto cabinetmaking tradition. The parallelepiped structure, with straight legs with a square cross-section, expresses an understated and functional, slightly rustic, yet refined taste. The nightstands are made of solid walnut and feature two overlapping drawers with oval brass handles. A fine detail is the geometrically patterned inlaid threading that runs vertically along the front corners, highlighting the 90° angle with understated elegance. The state of preservation is excellent: the furniture is intact and ready to use, possibly to be brightened up with a light coat of wax. Measurements: Width: 40 cm Depth: 34 cm Height: 78.5 cm
