Transition Commode Stamped Jean-baptiste II Tuart
About the Item
Jean-Baptiste II Tuart is the son of Jean-Bapstiste I Tuart, one of the cabinetmakers supplying the Court under Louis XV. Trained by his father with whom he worked for a time, he then became independent to establish himself as a master tablet maker and merchant.
Elegant small chest of drawers with central projection in herringbone rosewood marquetry in rosewood frames separated by Greek-style strips of light wood.
Beautiful ornamentation of gilded and chiseled bronze, red Flanders marble top.
Opening two drawers without crosspiece.
Quality Parisian work around 1760. built in oak. JB TUART stamp on a rear upright.
Very good condition, completely revarnished with a pad by our workshop.
