18th Century Italian Walnut Credenza With Inlay
About the Item
Credenza hand-made in Italy in the mid 1700s using walnut and decorated with walnut and cherry inlay. The credenza shows the typical Italian cantered corners, which make it a perfect piece for a spot where there is not a lot of room or where one needs room to open a door. The credenza has four drawers with wooden knobs, over two doors. The space inside is divided into two sections by a single shelf. The cabinet part of the credenza is very spacious, providing plenty of storage space.
The top is made of two thick walnut boards nailed to the case with square nails and framed by breadboards on all sides. The top follow the cantered corner shape of the case.
Overall this is a beautiful and relatively small piece of furniture that is both practical and decorative. The helical inlay is done masterfully and adds a touch of sophistication to an already very elegant piece of furniture. The warmth of the walnut and the old patina make this a truly fantastic piece of furniture that will add a touch of Italian style to any room it is placed.

18th Century Bleached Walnut Italian Credenza, Buffet, Sideboard
Located in Carmine, TX
Walnut credenza handcrafted in Italy in the mid 1700s and bleached recently. Don't let its delicate overall appearance fool you because, as my lower back can attest, this baby is heavy. This is a beautiful credenza that follow the typical italian style with slanted sides, which create small triangular storage spaces on either sides of the two main front doors and drawer. Overall the credenza is very straight in lines. The drawers have flat overlay fronts, and the doors show chamfered panels with a raised carving and are framed by flat molding. The carving and molding help giving the piece some depth and decoration. The bleaching process also provided the credenza with additional warmth, depth and decoration, by bringing out the beautiful grain and underlying colors of the wood. The top of the credenza is composed of boards with ogee edge nailed to the main case. On the inside the credenza is very spacious, providing plenty of storage space.
Overall this is a beautiful piece that has lived a long life, and has received some help in "hanging in there" over the years. This is a piece that will fit well with both modern and...

This is a beautiful, well-built and large period buffet that has style, and elegance. This gorgeous piece was built in the mid 1700s using all pegged construction and solid oak. The buffet features 3 drawers over three doors, all decorated with beautiful carving and raised panels throughout. The drawers show beautiful hand-made dovetailed joints and the back itself is a work of art. The buffet is still sitting on its original carved feet and shows a scalloped and carved apron, and is finished with simple, original hardware. This piece was hand-selected because of its beautiful proportions, carvings and overall color. The bleaching process shows much of the natural grain of the wood but it also highlights the human-made carvings, creating a beautiful combination of natural and human designs...
