About the Item

From Wright Auction: The cabinet was a prototype model for The Girard Group created for the Herman Miller showroom; There were only two known to be ever made. The cast aluminum legs hold up laminated frame, with two drawers and one glass shelf. The distinctive curve of the feet can be seen specifically in the commercial furniture line Alexander Girard designed for Braniff Airlines and later produced by Herman Miller for two short years, between 1965 and 1967. This piece was featured in the an Uncommon Vision exhibition at Neocon Chicago 2012, organized and curated by Herman Miller. Disclaimers: There's also evidence showing the design was claimed by Burke in Interiors Magazine February 1970. The same Burke Company that made copies of the Saarinen Tulip Table and Fiberglass chair. The cabinet is in excellent vintage condition, extremely well kept. Apart from the small chip on the edge of the top and some patina on the cast alumium legs, everything else in in excellent vintage condition. We currently also have the coffee table with green marble top, a side table with matching top and the hexagon table, all designed by Alexander Girard.
