About the Item
The sideboard model "Sheraton" is an icon of Italian design, the result of a collaboration between Giotto Stoppino and Lodovico Acerbis in 1977.
This piece represents a perfect balance between elegant form and innovative functionality, fully reflecting the role of Stoppino and Acerbis as protagonists of Italian design. Featuring a black lacquered wood frame with a high-gloss finish, the "Sheraton" features two large sliding doors that, thanks to a side-sliding opening system, reveal three interior compartments with glass shelves and four central drawers. This revolutionary mechanism provides complete and easy access to storage space while maintaining a clean, streamlined aesthetic. The dimensions of the sideboard are 70 cm in height, 280 cm in width and 49 cm in depth, providing ample space for organization and display of items. The combination of high-quality materials and attention to detail make the "Sheraton" a timeless piece, capable of enriching any room with its sophisticated presence.
In 1979, the "Sheraton" was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro and, since 1981, has been part of the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, a testament to its artistic and cultural value.
Born in Vigevano on April 30, 1926, Giotto Stoppino was a prominent Italian architect and designer. A student of Ernesto Nathan Rogers, he was one of the inspirational exponents of the neoliberty movement.
In 1953, he founded the firm "Architetti Associati" together with Vittorio Gregotti and Lodovico Meneghetti, working together until 1968. Since 1968, he has operated an independent practice, focusing on architecture, urban planning and design. Stoppino was an active member of the Association for Industrial Design (ADI), serving as president from 1982 to 1984. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including two honorable mentions at the Compasso d'Oro in 1960 and 1970, and won the Compasso d'Oro in 1979 and 1991. His works are exhibited in prestigious institutions, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Giotto Stoppino passed away in Milan on August 23, 2011.
