1750 Venezia Italy Wooden Red Lacquered Carved Credenza Porcelain Holder
Located in Brescia, IT
This is an exquisite and rare carved, engraved red lacquered wooden étagère and porcelain holder, with gilded details. Shaped with architectural prospects, with shelves and degrading steps. From the upper balustrade rises the cymatium shaped as volutes and entirely perforated and gilded. It is possible to count 17 pedestals or spaces suitable to set porcelain pieces. A gorgeous piece that we can say one-of-a-kind, that showcases a fine craftsmanship through meticulously carved architectural elements, and with the rare and rich red color of the lacquer. Coming out from the Tullio Silva Collection, Venezia, Italy. One of the distinctive characteristics of Venetian Baroque and Rococo furniture is the skilful use of lacquers. Lacquer is a natural resin that was very rare in the past, imported from the East and used to create smooth and colored surfaces on furniture, ready to be finely decorated with refined floral designs or exotic animals. Venetian artisans became masters in lacquer processing which required time and patience because it was made with many steps. The Venetian style deeply influenced furniture design throughout Europe, but none reached the Venetian level in terms of beauty. The skillful use of lacquer and carvings defined Venice's unique style during the Rococo period, its Golden Age. Referring bibliography: G.Morazzoni, Il mobile Veneziano del Settecento, Milano 1958, vol. I, tavv. CCXIII-CCXIV S.Levy, Lacche Veneziane settecentesche, Milano 1967, vol. II, tavv. 412-413 C. Santini, Mille mobili veneti, Modena 2002, pag. 284, fig. 495 Tullio Silva, son of Enrico Silva that was a well known antique dealer in Venice, opened his own antique furniture Gallery...

18th Century Louis XV Bleached Oak Buffet/Enfilade
Located in Carmine, TX
This is a beautiful, well-built and large period buffet that has style, and elegance. This gorgeous piece was built in the mid 1700s using all pegged construction and solid oak. The buffet features 3 drawers over three doors, all decorated with beautiful carving and raised panels throughout. The drawers show beautiful hand-made dovetailed joints and the back itself is a work of art. The buffet is still sitting on its original carved feet and shows a scalloped and carved apron, and is finished with simple, original hardware. This piece was hand-selected because of its beautiful proportions, carvings and overall color. The bleaching process shows much of the natural grain of the wood but it also highlights the human-made carvings, creating a beautiful combination of natural and human designs...

18th Century Bleached Walnut Italian Credenza, Buffet, Sideboard
Located in Carmine, TX
Walnut credenza handcrafted in Italy in the mid 1700s and bleached recently. Don't let its delicate overall appearance fool you because, as my lower back can attest, this baby is heavy. This is a beautiful credenza that follow the typical italian style with slanted sides, which create small triangular storage spaces on either sides of the two main front doors and drawer. Overall the credenza is very straight in lines. The drawers have flat overlay fronts, and the doors show chamfered panels with a raised carving and are framed by flat molding. The carving and molding help giving the piece some depth and decoration. The bleaching process also provided the credenza with additional warmth, depth and decoration, by bringing out the beautiful grain and underlying colors of the wood. The top of the credenza is composed of boards with ogee edge nailed to the main case. On the inside the credenza is very spacious, providing plenty of storage space. Overall this is a beautiful piece that has lived a long life, and has received some help in "hanging in there" over the years. This is a piece that will fit well with both modern and...
