Paolo Buffa high sideboard on execution Serafino Arrighi

About the Item

Large sideboard by Paolo Buffa 1950s on Arrighi execution. 5 doors formed with elegant ashlar execution. Inside we find shelves, in the right side glass shelf and grissinated drawers. This extraordinary Italian sideboard from the 1950s is to the celebrated Milanese architect and designer Paolo Buffa, with execution by cabinetmaker Serafino Arrighi, one of the finest interpreters of 20th-century high cabinetmaking. A piece of great stage presence, elegant and functional, perfect for those seeking historic design, excellent workmanship and strong decorative personality. Balanced and Refined Design The sideboard is distinguished by its five ashlar-worked doors, a solution typical of Buffa's aesthetic language, which gives rhythm and three-dimensionality to the front surface. The proportions are harmonious, balanced by tapered legs that give lightness to the structure, even though it is a large piece of furniture. The entire structure is made of noble polished wood, with a warm and vibrant finish that enhances the natural grain. The doors are embellished with small central decorative appliqués, an understated but distinctive detail that makes the cabinet unique. Inside, the sideboard offers a surprisingly well-organized space. We find spacious and functional shelves, ideal for storing dinnerware, glasses, books or decorative items. On the right side, an elegant glass shelf introduces transparency and visual lightness, while underneath it we find a series of small drawers with grissinata workmanship, one of the most sought-after decorative elements of the period and a symbol of extreme attention to detail. On the right-hand side we notice grissinated drawers that can be pulled out via brass knobs. The shelves are made of original glass from the period.

Fine Carved and Ebonized Bar Cabinet
Located in Milano, IT
Splendid bar cabinet designed in the 1920s, of fine Italian craftsmanship, with great mastery of woodwork. The cabinet has two legs at the base that cover the entire depth of the base. The feet are made of wood and have a style that is, to say the least, classical, reminiscent of ancient Greek structures; they are made of white-painted grisaille wood. The central body has a very massive rectangular shape. Both the base and the top are bevelled and have a frame that protrudes, like the friezes on the columns. The top is framed by a very classical Greek fret in white painted wood. The base, on the other hand, is made entirely of ebonised wood, which gives an even more sumptuous effect. The cabinet at the front displays two doors that can be opened by means of a brass key in original patina. Each door is decorated with a rectangular antique Greek frame...

Chinoiserie Cabinet by Giambattista Gianotti, Unique piece
By Paolo Buffa, Serafino Arrighi
Located in Milano, IT
Rare chinoiserie cabinet with polychrome decorations made in Giambattista Gianotti's Officine Riunite d'Arte Decorativa (Room 116) for the II Biennial - Lombard Section - Room with Furniture and Stained Glass Windows of the Officine Riunite d'Arte Decorativa. Unique Exemplar. The extraordinary piece of furniture is dated 1925. The piece of furniture is an extraordinary example of great cabinet making and woodworking. In fact, these special features are denoted by the manic inlays inserted in the cabinet. The inlays are perfect even in its smallest elements. Its depictions are mainly ornaments and floral elements. These inlays are found on the crown of the cabinet, on the sides, and on the legs. The cabinet opens via two lockable doors. Inside we find great magic! We are greeted by numerous walnut wood drawers of various sizes that can be opened with wooden knobs. Each wooden door is finely carved with ornaments and natural elements such as flowers and birds. The two main doors inside are also finely carved. Let's call it a chinoiserie piece of furniture because of this element that contradicts it: the numerous cabinets inserted inside, where opening this piece of furniture looks like opening a secret chest...
