About the Item
Victorian secretaire desk, in the Brighton Pavilion style. Having a frame of burnt bamboo, inset with lacquered panels hand-painted with birds and floral motifs. Its top panel hinged opens into a tooled leather slanted desk, over stationary holders and shelves for ink pens, flanked by storage cubbies. Its main surface decorated with a bird-filled, flowering tree, over three drawers with brass pulls. Raised on four legs, joined by fretwork, 3/4 box stretcher. The top of the secretaire decorated with fretwork pediment in the Chinoiserie style.
