About the Item

A very lovely secretary with serpentine front in beautiful West Indies/ Cuban mahogany attributable to Danish architect and painter, Gustav Friederich von Hetsch (1788-1864). A mirrored backsplash with elaborate and well-articulated pierced foliate carvings rests above a fall-front desk with a plethora of drawers of different sizes, and with three large storage drawers below. There are carved embellishments throughout that include gadrooning, volutes, acanthus and rope turnings, Denmark, circa 1840. Makes a lovely desk or dressing table!
