Mid 19th Century Walnut Wood Italian Desk Dresser, 1850

About the Item

Italian chest of drawers of 1850, with a door that opens up to form a desk. All veneered in walnut wood, with upper door that acts as a desk. Externally closed it appears with a flat upper door with three drawers below. But then, opening the door at the top, the desk is hidden, with four small drawers and a secret at the bottom of the top. Note the movement of the drawer fronts, and the edge of the top. The three drawers internally are covered with fabric. The desk door can be opened by means of a key, there are two small axes that fall into the cabinet itself, so that it can remain open and suspended. There are handles on the drawers so that they can be opened. The furniture has been found in an excellent state of conservation, this can be seen from the excellent state of the fabric inside the drawers, however restored, it has been polished with shellac, and every part is revised and arranged. For each piece, before the departure, a revision is redone, to make sure it arrives in excellent condition.
