Swedish Fall-Front Secretary in West Indies Mahogany, circa 1850

About the Item

A very beautiful and finely-crafted secretary in West Indies mahogany with book-matched crotch mahogany along the entire front. There are three graduated storage drawers below the fall-front, and one above which opens with a secret button. The desk offers a multitude of drawers of different sizes. Fully-turned columns with mahogany veneering and carved-acanthus capitals flank the base. Chest has all of the original hardware and comes with 3 original keys and working locks. Interior knobs are all the original turned mahogany pulls. Secondary wood is pine. Construction is superb, with very finely hand-cut dovetails in the small interior drawers. A true masterwork in craftsmanship! Sweden, circa 1850. Note: You should always request a shipping quote.
