About the Item
Rio rosewood, rosewood, and sycamore veneer sideboard, attributed to the renowned French designer Jules Leleu (1883–1961).
It opens on the front with five swing doors mounted on bricks, inlaid with diamonds, lemonwood stringing, mother-of-pearl floral motifs, and various woods. These doors are fitted with original working locks with keys.
The sycamore interior, accented with amaranth stringing, features seven drawers in the center, while the left and right sections each offer two adjustable shelves, decorated with friezes on their edges and mounted on racks.
Two downward-sloping columns constitute the front uprights. They are topped with brass rings and terminate in ornate feet adorned with plaques.
The edges of the three visible sides of this piece of furniture feature a molded frame beveled inward.
The lower crosspiece is slightly curved.
This piece of furniture has benefited from exceptional work in both its design and construction, symbolizing Leleu's expertise.
