Antique Swedish Low and Wide Gustavian Sideboard with Original Faux Paint
About the Item
Wide and low gustavian sideboard from Northern Sweden made circa 1810-1820. The sideboard is in untouched original condition with original paint from the early 1800s. It is unusually low and wide being 165 cm wide but only just over a meter tall. The sideboard is painted with faux paint made to imitate mahogany while the interior has never been painted.
Both doors have hand carved wooden decorations in all corners. The lock and key are in fully functional condition. Because this is an authentic Swedish antique there are some traces of 200 years of use, resulting in a natural wear and patina. The frame is healthy and solid. There are some minor ink stains inside the drawers. Height to the tabletop is 103.5 cm and the edge is another 9.5 cm making the total height 113 cm.
