About the Item

This unique cabinet came out of a north shore estate that had the entire dining room done in pieces from Michael Taylor's Far East Collection for Baker. The family said the owners purchased it all from the Baker Showroom at the Merchandise Mart and it was all from the same collection. Although this has all the same hardware, lines and details as the other pieces (which did have Baker tags), it does not have a Baker tag. This piece was sent out for restoration (as the finish was faded from sun exposure over the years). It was redone in a black stain that almost appears espresso due to the variation of color within the wood. The finish is satin. Although it appears to be a bookcase or display case over a cabinet, this is one piece of furniture. There are 2 lower cabinets with the traditional Michael Taylor for Baker Chinoiserie nickel hardware (with a shelf inside each cabinet) and three open display shelves over the cabinets. The back of the case was meant to sit against a wall (the refinisher did stain it but it is not finished. If you look closely at the hardware and the decorative trim on the case, it definitely appears to be part of the Far East Collection. Dimensions are: 57.5"W x 14"D x 61"H (each open shelf is 9.75"H).
