About the Item
Very fine Arts and Crafts style Sideboard with floating top designed and produced by Kevin Kopil from his celebrated Floating World Collection. According to the maker, the inspiration for the Line is the furniture and architecture of the iconic American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as well as the Japanese theme of the “Floating World”, the concept having to do with Japan's Edo period (1615–1868), The phrase "the floating world" (ukiyo) evoked an imagined universe of wit, stylishness, and extravagance—with overtones of naughtiness, hedonism, and transgression. Implicit was a contrast to the humdrum of everyday obligation.
The Sideboard is meticulously crafted in Solid Cherry with Ebonized Walnut and Wenge details and has a plank top with Japanese inspired Butterfly closures, dove-tail constructed drawers with Butterfly closure style pulls and two doors, also with Butterfly closures that each open to reveal storage with one adjustable shelf. Includes the Certificate of Authenticity.
Dimensions: 71.75” wide by 23” deep by 36.5” high.
Condition: Please see detail photos. There is an indent to one door as well as a few age and use related minor nicks and fine scratches which do not detract from the very fine Arts and Crafts presentation.
