About the Item

This is a storage piece of furniture that has been used in Japan since ancient times, and is called "Kuruma Nagamochi". The main materials used are Zelkova and cedar, and they were used in the Tohoku region of Japan. It was generally placed near the entrance of a house to store household goods, and was often used during the Edo period. This is different from the usual ones, as it is tall and narrow, and has an unusual shape with square decorations on the sides. It is likely to have been used in a high-ranking home. The matte black color, which has changed to a natural texture over time, blends in with the peeling paint and looks like a work of art. The simple design with few unnecessary decorations makes it a great sideboard or display stand to highlight the things you display. It symbolizes the Japanese wabi-sabi culture and provides tranquility and harmony to the space. Weight: 52.8kg
