About the Item

This is an old, large sideboard made in Japan. The furniture was made during the Meiji period (1860s-1900s) and has a deep black paint throughout, giving it a stately appearance. The material used is cedar wood. The drawer handles are made of iron. The design is very simple, with a structure that eliminates any waste, and its cleanliness is the very embodiment of the Japanese aesthetic of “wabi-sabi. The straight line structure quietly arranges the space, and has an understated yet powerful presence. After many years of use, the fine repairs and signs of aging that can be seen throughout the furniture are evidence of the care with which it has been handled. The taste created by the passage of time gives it a unique charm that cannot be found in a new piece. With three drawers in the upper section and wide sliding door storage in the lower section, this furniture is not only beautiful to look at but also very practical. Both drawers and sliding doors open and close smoothly for everyday use. The entire piece has been carefully cleaned and is ready for immediate use. We recommend this piece not only as a storage furniture, but also as an art piece that will become the main feature of your space. Weight: approx. 60 kg ____________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
