About the Item
A rare and exceptional early work by Jorge Zalszupin, crafted in the late 1950s in solid jacaranda (Brazilian rosewood) with sculptural carved drawer fronts and brass-capped feet.
This piece represents Zalszupin’s formative design period, when he began experimenting with architectural rhythm and organic forms, elements that would later define his iconic L’Atelier creations. The handles are carved directly from solid wood, creating a seamless interplay of shadow and geometry across the facade.
Excellent vintage condition with a beautiful original patina. The drawers slide smoothly, and the structure remains solid and stable. Professionally cleaned and lightly oiled to preserve the richness of the jacaranda grain.
Why it’s unique: Early Zalszupin works from the 1950s are exceedingly rare and sought after by collectors worldwide. This sideboard is both functional and sculptural - a museum-quality example of Brazilian modernism at its peak.
