About the Item

A Swedish Gustavian style painted wood sideboard from the late 19th century, with diamond motifs and carved rosettes. Created in Sweden during the last quarter of the 19th century, this painted sideboard features a rectangular top with canted corners in the front, sitting above a dentil molding. Two doors, adorned with diamond motifs in protruding frames, open to reveal inner shelves. The piece is flanked with fluted side posts topped with carved rosettes. Painted in a nicely distressed soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes, the sideboard is raised on short tapered feet angled in the front. With its Classical lines and carved décor, this Swedish Gustavian style sideboard circa 1880 will bring a touch of elegance to any living room, dining room or foyer.
