Early 19th Century Regency Brass Inlaid Turn Over Leaf Card Table
About the Item
A fabulous early 19th Century Regency rosewood card table with well cast brass inlay throughout. This stunning piece is of exceptional quality, finely hand carved with rich patination and grain. The well figured moulded, hinged top of D-end form is beautifully inlaid with a brass border band and folds back to reveal a fitted green baize playing surface. Raised over a classically simple panelled frieze featuring a central brass inlaid panel flanked with a further pair of panels with beaded row detail and scroll motifs to each side. Supported on elegantly tapering square columnar pod with gorgeous gadroon detail above quatrefoil base with canted corners and elegantly tapering outswept scroll legs with delicate brass line inlay, terminating on finely cast brass toe caps with lion paw foot and scrolling acanthus motif detail.
