Pair of Antique Irish Victorian Burr Walnut and Carved Card Tables
About the Item
Stunning pair of 19th century Irish burr walnut cards tables, the serpentine shaped tops with highly figured bookmatched veneers and ‘Irish carved’ edge of trailing Shamrocks, leaves and bell flowers. Each standing on a turned and similarly profusely carved column with four cabriole legs on original brass and white ceramic castors. The hinged tops turning and opening to reveal a green baize playing surface with a veneered and polished storage compartment for cards and games below.
In good condition with good color and figuring to the tops, one is slightly faded on the frieze and has a couple of areas with filler to the top as well as a chip to the rear of the column, old repair to leg on the other. Inside the baize is faded and worn on the crease and some marks and chips to the veneer, we can arrange for new baize or felt if required.
