About the Item
This antique low table was crafted in the Late Meiji Era (1868–1912).
Its wide top is made from solid zelkova (keyaki) wood, while the legs are crafted from cedar—both materials that have aged gracefully over more than a century. The surface shows a warm, timeworn texture with areas of natural wear and fading that add a deeply authentic character.
The table’s generous width offers practical surface space for a variety of uses, from serving tea to displaying decorative objects. Its low height reflects traditional Japanese lifestyle, where furniture was designed for sitting directly on the floor, often on tatami mats. For this reason, the height may seem unusually low by Western standards, but it is original and intentional.
This piece blends historical charm with everyday usability—an ideal addition for those who appreciate quiet beauty and cultural depth in their interiors.
Cleaned and disinfected with a non-toxic solution.
As an antique piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. The top surface shows some cracks and stains, which further enrich its aged character. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent antique condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its overall appeal.
