About the Item
Beautiful antique parquetry table from circa 1880-1900.
Some people call the technique of these, amazingly inlaid cubical motifs parquetry and some call it marquetry. Any 19th century table with such top quality inlaid motifs with satinwood would have cost the first owner a small fortune, because it will have taken a great many man-hours to make and perfect. Please notice how each plaque of wood is placed with the grain flowing in exactly the right direction. By doing so the shape of the squares are emphasized and thus made three dimensional. This center table is on its original wheels and it is perfectly stabile. It can be extended to a larger table (see image 9), but the extra tabletop is not present. The extra tables in image 10 are being offered in a different listing.

The top of this beautifully designed and very well executed table is inlaid with a diamond in the center which grows into a larger, but more organic diamond as it moves outward. The edges of this table with the differences in height also make this table extra impressive. What probably is most striking are the incredibly detailed carvings on all four sides and on all four legs.
