About the Item

Damian Jones’s Nant Table functions perfectly as a coffee table or cocktail table. Its drum shaped form is sheathed in a mosaic pattern of hand-cut and laid brass “tiles.” Each tile has been patinated in varied colors and shades creating facets that reflect light in a dynamic arrangement. The table’s surface, in claro walnut has been precisely fitted in a radial pattern, dyed in a rich green color and finished in a flat lacquer giving the table a leather-like look. Its slight domed top gives the work the unusual appearance of an ottoman. Welsh born Damian Jones creates hand-made, unique furniture with a wide range of influences – from 1920s and 30s Deco design to Egyptian motifs to tribal art. His remarkable works are instantly recognizable for their bold forms and his signature ornamentation. Working out of his Los Angeles studio, Jones creates rich textures by combining exotic woods with hand-cut metal “tiles,” which are individually laid to create beautifully faceted patterns. While Jones does work from sketches, the pattern work that defines his designs is largely spontaneous, evolving as the works take form, allowing the process to guide the finished piece. It is this spontaneity that gives each individual work its own distinct character. Jones’ work is everything that today’s market of mass-produced, sleek design isn’t. Always present in the work is the artist’s hand. Jones favors a reverence for authenticity more than machined flawlessness, embracing the subtle imperfections, asymmetry, and anomalies. While Jones’ designs are often rooted in traditional furniture designs his approach is distinctly contemporary, resulting in works that are inventive, elegant, and timeless. walnut and brass 16h x 42w x 42d in 40.64h x 106.68w x 106.68d cm

Modern Coffee Table by Donatas Zukauskas

Modern Coffee Table by Kasanai Dimensions: D 63 x H 40 cm. Materials: Oak, cement, recycled paper, glue, paint. 15 kg. The visual inspiration for the coffee table is a combination of natural wood and concrete. These two opposite materials combined, create a unique character of the product that has the coldness of concrete and the coziness of wood. The main goal of the project was to create not only a piece of furniture, but also a sculptural and elegant detail of the interior. The tabletop is made of natural oak, and the base of the table, resembling concrete in appearance, is made by pouring solid mass. The set task was technologically challenging - it was necessary to fuse wet mass and moisture-sensitive wood. The entire structure of the table is manufactured at the same time, so that the two materials join together smoothly and precisely to avoid any gaps. After the product dries, it is scrubbed, and the tabletop is oiled. The black concrete-like material is the result of various experiments. It is a mixture of several components: an eco-friendly of cement, recycled paper, glue, and paint. Dried it becomes as strong as wood, it resembles concrete but is slightly elastic, so it does not split or crumble. The result is a natural texture and strength that ensures durability, setting it apart as a unique and sustainable piece.
