About the Item

This exquisite coffee table by Jules Leleu was executed in circa 1957 France, in Mahogany with patinated metal stretchers, brass accents and a antiqued mirrored glass top. Documented in Leleu Decorateurs Ensembliers by Francoise Siriex, the underside is impressed with Maison Leleu inventory numbers '29090'. Jules Leleu first opened Maison Leleu, a Paris gallery, in 1924 and won a grand prize at the 1925 Exposition Industrielle et Arts Decoratifs. Later, Leleu designed the Grand Salon of the Ambassadors at the Society of Nations in Geneva and the French Embassies of several nations and the SS Ile de France and SS Normandie ocean liners. A revered French designer, Jules Leleu documented items are exceedingly sought-after by collectors, connoisseurs, interior designers of high profile projects, and art / design investors. A fabulous piece to use and enjoy while building a worthwhile collection. This Jules Leleu coffee table would work great in an Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Post-Modern or Mid-Century Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern, Danish Modern or Zen / Minimalist room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, or Classical room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. DOCUMENTATION: Leleu Decorateurs Ensembliers by Francoise Siriex, pages 253, 254, 257. MEASUREMENTS: H 20.25" x Diameter 39.5" CONDITION: Wood was refinished with light signs of age and patina. Brass was cleaned and has attractive patina. Mirrored top has minor scratches and hazing. Very attractive and presentable example ready for immediate use.
