Kähler Rococo Style Table with Zodiac Signs Tiles by Jens Thirslund, 1930s
About the Item
Danish Rococo-style table made of mahogany with curved legs and gilded carvings of stylized foliage.
The tiles are decorated by Jens Thirslund (1892-1942) with the 12 zodiac signs, 1 for each month.
Jens Thirslund was for years a talented and much appreciated technical and artistic leader at Kähler´s ceramic work-shop close to Næstved, Denmark.
The colors are chosen in delicate reddish, bluish tones with touches of green and black.
The table is quite rare and, in terms of style, fits well with especially Art Deco but also Scandinavian interior design from the Mid-20th Century.
The table is from the 1930s and remains in nice vintage condition without damage.
