London Edition Side Table by Marcel Breuer, Germany 1930s

About the Item

Marcel Breuer (1902–1981), a renowned designer and architect, was a key figure in modern design. At just 23 years old, while at the Bauhaus, he revolutionized furniture manufacturing by using tubular steel. This innovation led to the creation of iconic design classics like the Wassily Chair and the Cesca Chair. The London Edition side table by Marcel Breuer is a minimalist piece that reflects the Bauhaus principles Breuer advocated. Designed during the 1930s, this side table is a testament to Breuer's exploration of industrial materials and his innovative approach to furniture design. The table has a simple yet sturdy structure, with a cantilevered frame composed of tubular steel that creates a floating effect. The frame, with its clean geometry, supports two tiers of clear bubble glass. Unmarked. Germany, 1930s. Condition: Great vintage condition, with a natural patinated finish to the chrome frame. The glass shows no significant signs of wear.
