About the Item

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period low Kang table from the 19th century, with open apron and humpback stretcher, restored with custom aqua teal distressed lacquer. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this low kang table will make for a wonderful coffee table! Should you need a pop of color, this table has been newly and professionally relacquered with a stunning distressed aqua / teal finish. The table features a rectangular top with central inset board, sitting above an open waisted apron adorned with carved pillar strut motifs. This décor runs on all sides, the table will therefore be able to float in a room and be seen from all angles. The ensemble is raised on four straight legs with horse hoof feet. Coffee tables as we call them now evolved from the Kang tables that were developed in the Ming Dynasty. Those low tables were long and rectangular with short legs and placed on a kang which was a raised three-walled platform. With its clean lines and aqua teal lacquered finish, this Chinese Qing Dynasty period low Kang coffee table from the 19th century will make for a statement in any home, placed in a living room or under a covered patio.
