About the Item
A French pedestal table with a turned column screw stem, with a hexagonal base and circular top, reminiscent of Charles Dudouyt designs.
The turned screw column was most probably used as part of a French wine press and dating from the 1800s/early 1900s and later made into table form and fully restored.
Befitting of interiors that blend pieces of different styles and ages and also those that harness the stripped-back, primitive, rustic, wabi-sabi aesthetic that is so on trend currently and embraces and helps us see natural beauty in imperfection. The piece has amazing patina that only time can create.
Condition: The set has been sympathetically & professionally restored and as a result is in great order. The items naturally show some signs of wear commensurate with age, particularly the stem which will have some age characteristics and overall some endearing quirks of a set this age and type including no longer active & treated woodworm holes.
